Hong Kong young pianist Pak-yu Alex Kwok is a passionate performer. He loved to show his eagerness in music through performing. Majoring in piano, Alex received professional training in the Hong Kong Academy for Performing Arts under the tutelage of Prof. Gabriel Kwok, head of the keyboard department. He graduated in summer 2022, receiving a first-class honor in the Bachelor of Music degree. Currently, he is undertaking the Master of Music program in the academy. He is also the awardee of several scholarships, including the HSBC Hong Kong Scholarship, Grantham Scholarship, and the Concerto Prize Scholarship of the academy.

Alex has started his professional training in piano since 5 years old. In 2017, he qualified with Licentiate in Performance from Trinity College London. He has also received tutelage from various prestigious concert pianists such as Leslie Howard, Eliso Virsaladze, and Chi Yan Wong in masterclasses. Alex is a frequent winner of regional competitions from his youth. In recent years, he claimed the championship in Professional Group-L as well as Best Interpretation of a Chopin Piece prize in the 2021 autumn edition of Chopin Avenue International Piano Competition. In the same year, he also achieved a second prize in the Young Artists Group in HKGNA International Music Competition.

A natural communicator in his art and active performer in charity marathons, Alex started professional engagements only in the recent years. In 2022 he was featured as a guest pianist in “The City”, an immersive concert featuring music by Beethoven, Arvo Pärt, and Shing Hei Kam, presented by art organization Yorozuya City. He was also invited as a performer in “2022 Invisible Music”, a concert featuring both Chinese and Western music performed with two visually impaired musicians, held by HKALPS.
