Currently Co-founder and Executive Director of PROJECT21st, Sharon Chan focuses her practice in transdisciplinary curatorial work and research. She was General Manager of the Hong Kong New Music Ensemble from 2012 to 2019, and was Creative Producer for Special Projects of the Ensemble from 2019 to 2020. She holds an Mphil Degree in Musicology from The University of Hong Kong, and a Master Degree in Humanities (Literature) from the Hong Kong University of Science and Technology. In 2019, Chan received the Overseas Training Scheme for Arts Administrators Grant from the Hong Kong Arts Development Council for her research on curatorial practice in contemporary music. As an experienced performing arts producer and manager, she has been invited to give presentations in conferences and festivals such as the Classical:NEXT (2018) and GRiNM (Gender and Diversity in New Music) Network Conference (2019).
In 2021, Chan completed physical theatre training course “Physical Acting Lab by Ata Wong”. Her recent performances include Tino Sehgal’s These Associations (Tai Kwun Contemporary, 2021), #1314 (Théâtre de la Feuille, 2021), Venture into the Unknown: Eroica Reimagined (The Orchestra Academy, 2022), Scavengers (Théâtre de la Feuille, 2023).
