While most people agree music education is important to people development, yet there are not many organizations trying to explore what else can be done beyond learning an instrument. We are here to build the bridges connecting you with multidisciplinary learning via music.

Kilian Chan

Kilian Chan started Aura Music with Stephen Lam in 2019 to explore repositioning the role of music in education, provide context and knowledge around music, as well as create content to enhance multidisciplinary learning. He hope to connect young Asian musicians to promote quality concerts around. Recently he has been invited by Young Friends of the Hong Kong Arts Festival, to be the narrator for their Young Friends Music Special Programme “From Literature To Music“.

Between 2012 and 2018, Kilian was the Director of Finance and Development of the Hong Kong Festival Orchestra. ​He is also the founder of an art-tech initiative Ponte+ exploring new possibilities in audience engagement and interaction. He is also an amateur cellist.

Kilian studied Business Administration at the Chinese University of Hong Kong and hold a master’s degree in Statistics from the University of Hong Kong. He is a private wealth manager of an international financial institution by profession.

Stephen Lam

Stephen Lam is the Artistic Director and Principal Conductor of the Ponte Orchestra and Singers. He also conducts the Macao Youth Symphony Orchestra.

He is a dedicated educator and ardent advocate of community outreach programmes. Currently he gives lectures and conducts at the United International College co-founded by the Beijing Normal University and the Hong Kong Baptist University, and the Chinese University of Hong Kong (Shenzhen). He is a regular guest professor-conductor of the Sichuan Music Conservatory in China.

Stephen studied conducting at the prestigious University for Music and Performing Arts Vienna, where he was one of the last students of Uros Lajovic, Ordner Edwin, and Konrad Leitner. He also holds a Bachelor degree in Environmental Science from the Chinese University of Hong Kong, and a Master of Arts in Literary and Comparative Literature from the University of Hong Kong.
